How to Render The Veil – Pencil

Master_Nick-carnal_veil-smIn creating a painting, I used to get impatient with the preliminary pencil work. If I’d wanted to be drawing, I’d be doodling in my sketchbook. I wanted to be painting, damn it! Inevitably I’d take up the brush before the piece was fully plotted, and ultimately I’d come to regret it. As fellow artist Julian Greigh says, the longest distance between two points is a short cut. In this case that means that it’s much harder to fix something that’s already been painted wrong than it is to lay it out properly the first time. Thankfully, I finally learned my lesson.
