Katra and The Crimson Curtain

“All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players…”
– William Shakespeare
Excerpt from “As You Like It”

“A red tide misting sails at sea,
a burgundy that billows free,
like curtains parting so you’ll see
what never was, and yet may be…”
– Nick Roberts
Excerpt from the poem “Crimson Curtain”

Many of my paintings reach this stage. Crimson curtains come in to serve as a theatrical backdrop. Similarly ruddy sheets spread out below, just as those ‘tween the mattress and man pictured here. We can just make out his torso, supine ‘neath a successfully seductive succubus.

The stage has been dressed, and the players undressed…

“Now all we need… is skin.”
– Julia “Hellbound: Hellraiser II”
