Art Is Magic

Master_Nick-Raven-castle“We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams.”
–Arthur O’Shaughnessy

I love the old Gene Wilder flick Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, but for my purposes, as an artist, I’d change the O’Shaughnessy line Wonka quoted to “We are the magic-makers.”

What is magic?

The dictionary speaks of making things appear, and of a quality beyond everyday life. Artists make things manifest that had not existed before, and show us things we’d otherwise have missed, or never even imagined amidst day to day drudgery.
Your favorite animated features? Pure art. An amusement park based around such features? We call one a “Magic Kingdom.” That is also the magic of art. Painting, writing, music and more all bring ethereal vision into reality, and make them into something we can see, or hear, and certainly feel.

Art is magic. Revel in it!

I’ll be conjuring more and more, so appear here again to catch updates on exhibitions, performances, publications and other magical manifestations!
