Welcome to the World of Tomorrow!

I’ve been away from the blog, working on something so all-consuming that I forget to even tell anyone about it. If you’d like to know, you’ll still have to wait. There’s so much more left to do! In the meantime, here’s a dose of Holiday geekdom for ya.

My sweetie is under the weather, so rather than attend a New Years Eve party as we’d planned we’re spending a quiet evening at home. Whilst homebound on the holidays, we take in a lot of seasonal entertainment. Amongst our Christmas showings were the Mystery Science Theater 3000 versions of “Santa Claus” and “Santa Claus Conquers The Martians” as well as the Futurama episodes “Xmas Story” and “A Tale of Two Santas”. We never found time for “The Futurama Holiday Spectacular”. Maybe next year.

For New Year’s Eve, we return to Futurama. The pilot episode moves from December 31st 1999 to December 31st 2999. Another episode which touches upon New Year’s Eve is season 4’s “The Why of Fry”. If you really want to go deep and first get some backstory setting up a couple plot points, there’s Season 3’s “The Day The Earth Stood Stupid” and “Roswell that Ends Well”. Those aren’t seasonal, but they are damned good.
If you have even more time to spend, you can follow these up with “Bender’s Big Score” which touches on both Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

I’ll probably be sleeping off some spiced rum before getting to that one, but again, there’s always next year.
Happy New Year!
